just got a nice surprised email from the people at aviary - the web-based flash applications for people who want to create.
here’s what the creators had to say about the tool and the tech demo below shows it!!!
“Let me caution, Phoenix is not for casual editing (like cropping and removing red-eye). Of course you can do those things in Phoenix, but that’s a waste of the engine’s potential. We are targeting our user base of Photoshop-using hobbyists at Worth1000 and built it around their specifications, so including a lot of advanced editing effects was an absolute must.”

there’s a new post on aviary’s site - www.creationonthefly.com - about the new interactive demos of the hummingbird application (online and offline (AIR based) 3d modelling and skinning tool).
for the hummingbird application, aviary have opted to use the away3d engine instead of the other actionscript 3d engines (papervision3d or sandy3d).
check the new demos:
- reflective material,
- reflective directional lighting,
- smooth shading,
- transparent reflections

the benefits of having hd encoding within flash means high quality video and audio on all those flash video sites like youtube and myspace. it also means that adobe are pushing futher ahead of microsoft’s silverlight player.
update: 23 August
in addition to hd support, it also supports non-flv too (MP4, M4V, M4A, MOV, Mp4v, 3gp, 3g2)
