silverlight web video player seems to have be pushed on more sites:

hsn - home shopping network.
et - entertainment tonight. (this links to one of the pages - emmys; but it seems that they are using flash and silverlight together).
wwe - world wrestling entertainment. (well it’s coming soon)

hmm… but when will the next version of silverlight be available so we can create the same functions found in wpf.

with the launch of halo 3, microsoft has pushed out a full silverlight site.

just when i thought that adobe had the interactive rich media market for mobile devices with flash lite, microsoft has been showing a demo of their silverlight platform running on windows mobile 6.

i knew that silverlight was a cool thing and can be written in c#, javascript and some other languages but it never occur to me (homer ‘doh’) that since it can be written in javascript that it could be easily reused in a javascript package such as dojo toolkit.

it seems that the mbl.com (major league baseball) site has rolled out a silverlight video player for it’s media content.

another silverlight site, this one is a media player site with some cool effects like drag-n-drop of bottom icons to video player and the grey-out and pausing when you click the login button.

another commercial silverlight website, this one is based on tracking election processes via the power of msn live search.

when i first saw this i thought, ok another lame example of silverlight in use but this is actually very nicely executed; it’s a search engine using silvelight as the frontend and msn live search for the backend.

there is some really nice features like:

• the breadcrumb effect for additional searches (folder on top of folders),
• the two views for the results (bog standard list and the tree display (found by clicking on the tree icon in the middle top)),
• carousel effect for the different search types (web, image, news, rss feed and books)
• the save function by literally dragging the article to the right side panel.

i think i’ve done writing about this little app so just check it out!!!

the benefits of having hd encoding within flash means high quality video and audio on all those flash video sites like youtube and myspace. it also means that adobe are pushing futher ahead of microsoft’s silverlight player.
